I walk across campus all the time, so sorry, this is kind of a lame one.
Still, it was nice walking around campus for the first time this semester and letting all of the memories, good and bad, flood back. I remembered all the places where fresh, exciting things happened – where I first met my roommate, practiced ultimate frisbee, tried hookah, had a job interview, climbed on a roof, met my first ever friend (at Brown). I walked by the places that I now find mundane, remembering the eyes through which I first saw it all, how hopeful and exhilarating everything had seemed.
However, my most prevalent thought while walking around campus: was this here before?
When did this bear statue get here? Has this construction always been going on? There’s a new dining hall? Nobody told me.
So I guess even though there is so much that feels familiar to me now, there’s plenty still to see and do. I will soon become just as bored with those things, of course, and the school will have to build some other statue to satisfy me. Until then, it’s good to be back!
hahah so happy I could be there when you made this discovery
