I purposely choose to lead the very first Ethnic Studies class discussion because I was intimidated to do it, and wanted to challenge that fear. Also – I thought that the other person who would sign up to lead the first discussion would be an over-enthusiastic Ethnic Studies major, leaving me with a minimal amount of work to do. Unfortunately, this was the girl who signed up with me for Week One:
“Well, that was awkward,” she said as we were leaving the classroom. I laughed and nodded.
“At least it’s out of the way.” Yep, my thoughts exactly.
“Yeah usually there’s like one or two people who take over the discussion and talk the whole time. No one really did that today…” Nope. “…and I am usually so not that person.”
Yeah me neither.
