I hate hate hate smoking. There are few things I hate more. As a kid, whenever my sisters and I would see smokers, we would cough really loudly walking by, exaggerating each cough, glaring and staring them down as they passed.
I had pretty bad asthma as a child, and the selfishness of secondhand smoke was deplorable, in my opinion.
But similar to playing the lottery (see post #4), buying and smoking a cigarette legally is something I did because now I can. At first I thought it would be a good idea. You know – placing myself in the shoes of someone else, doing something that is so commonplace but I have never related to, etc.
But in retrospect, I regret that this is on my list of new experiences. They say you have to try something before you can definitively denounce it. I know this isn’t true for smoking. Smoking is selfish and stupid. We all know that. First graders know that.
