Therapeutic touch is energy therapy.
What? I know.
The theory was developed in the 1970s by Dora Kunz, and Dolores Krieger, Professor Emerita of Nursing Science at New York University. The theory states that by placing their hands near the patient, the practitioner can detect the field surrounding the patient, and manipulate their energy to positively benefit their physical and mental state.
My mom is studying to be a massage therapist. Of course, she needed a subject to try this unconventional form of treatment out on. She detected bad energy in my stomach and I realized I had a stomach ache. After administering the treatment myself, I concluded that my mom’s knee energy is weak. Even though I picked some bad energy out, she will probably have pain in her knees one day. Two really helpful things for us to know.
So to all the skeptics out there – so what if it is all psychological? If there are beneficial results, does it matter?
