I’ve been working at Starbucks for over six months now. Needless to say, I was a little freaked out when I was taking a nap one afternoon – quietly in my room, minding my own business – when I heard a pounding on the door. I yelled for the person to come in, because the door was open, but they never did. So I fell back asleep. (I realize that doesn’t explain why as a Starbucks employee, I would be freaked out, but continue reading…)
When my roommate got back later she handed me a gift card that had been taped to our door. It was a Starbucks gift card that said “Thank You” and had my name on it. Of course, anyone who actually knows me knows that I go to Starbucks almost every day and I get every drink for free. I have no use for a Starbucks gift card. I have no idea who gave me the card or what they were thanking me for or how they intended for me to use it.
Nevertheless, we get a lot of regulars at Starbucks and thankfully it wasn’t too hard for me to pass along this unsolicited gift. Steve (previously mentioned in post #68) gets free coffee when he comes in, which is almost every day. When I gave him the $5 card he came in twice that night for some coffee cake and used the whole card up.
A wholehearted thank you from Steve, to me, to my mysterious gifter. Much appreciated!
