#143. Go to a jeweler to exchange gold for money.

In summary of yesterday: My mother and I find a ring that she believes to be worth hundreds, or even thousands of dollars. We are discouraged by research that reveals it is probably a replica, but decide to go a jewelry store to get more answers….

One day later: My mother has returned to the estate stale in search of more precious finds. She spends $40 on this:


Our faces fell slowly as we spoke with jeweler who explained that what we had bought is fake, “costume jewelry.” Overnight I went from millionaire to tacky cat lady. I still feel rich and famous though, which is all that really matters.
